Solicitor, LLB (UNSW), MA (UNSW), BEd (Flinders University) · Admitted to practice in NSW 1999 · 25+ years' legal experience
Jacqui Griffin has been working as a lawyer for over 25 years, admitted to practice in New South Wales in 1999. Before entering the law, she spent approximately 17 years as a high school teacher — teaching science, mathematics and physical education in her hometown of Darwin and in Sydney.
That background in education shaped how Jacqui approaches legal work: with a commitment to clear explanation, genuine patience and a focus on helping clients understand what is happening and why. Legal proceedings can be confusing and stressful; Jacqui's aim is to make the process as clear and manageable as possible.
After being admitted, Jacqui worked initially in a suburban firm in Toongabbie, Sydney, doing a broad range of legal work. She then opened her own legal practice, where her focus has been family law, care and protection matters (Children's Court), and domestic violence orders (ADVOs). She also undertakes criminal law work and estate matters including wills and probates.
In recent years Jacqui has placed particular emphasis on assisting self-represented litigants in family law — offering unbundled legal services and fixed-fee family law packages to make legal support genuinely accessible for working people who need help but cannot afford traditional full-service representation.
Jacqui sees clients in person in Sydney, Darwin, or other locations by arrangement. She is available to appear in person at Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia registries around Australia, and genuinely enjoys the travel that comes with that.
"My focus is on helping people who are going through really difficult times navigate a system that can feel overwhelming. I want clients to leave an appointment with a clearer picture of where they stand and what their options are."
